There are four stages within the RCIA process:
1) The Period of Pre-Evangelization and Precatechumante
This is the time when an individual comes to some knowledge of Jesus and is attracted in some way to the Catholic Church.
2) The Period of the Catechumante
This period consists of the individual discerning what God is telling them through the scriptures, how their life needs to change in response to Gospel, and what Baptism in the Catholich Church means for them. The next step is to request baptism.
3) The Period of Purification and Englightment
During the liturgical season of Lent, this period is marked by prayer, study, and spiritual direction for the Elect, and prayers for them by the Holy Cross Community.
4)The Period of Mystagogy
This period continues for at least a year with gatherings based on the newly baptized schedule. During the period the newly baptized members reflect on their experiences at the Easter Vigil and continue to learn more about the Scriptures, the Sacraments, and the teachings of the Catholic Church. They reflect on how they will serve Christ and help in the Church's mission and outreach activities.
RCIA is a discernment process. Each candidate will meet with Fr Joseph and go over the process & expectations.
